The Bread and Wine for this morning’s services are given by April and Robert North in celebration of their 29th wedding anniversary on June 11. Our thanks to the Lipede family for hosting this morning’s Coffee Hour! Next Sunday we begin our summer schedule of offering offer coffee and cool drinks in the Elevator Room and Tower Room following each service. Coffee Hours throughout the summer are in need of hosts. Groups of individuals or families may work together if desired. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the Narthex. Christ Church provides a meal for friends at the ROUTE 1 HOMELESS DAY CENTER on the second Monday of each month. Our next date is tomorrow! Look for the sign-up sheet on the Information Table with menu items and opportunities to help transport the food, serve the meal and cleanup. We will meet in the Parish Hall parking lot at 2:45 PM to do this good work. USHER TRAINING Training for new ushers, and a refresher for experienced ushers, is scheduled today at 9:30 AM. We hope all ushers will attend! From the WOMEN OF CHRIST CHURCH: Springfield Picnic is this Saturday, June 16 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM: We need help with donations of food and drink, setting up (beginning at 10:30 AM), serving and cleaning up. Please look for the sign- up sheet in the Narthex and let us know how you will help.
We have arranged for an evening at Toby’s Dinner Theatre of Columbia to see the musical “Legally Blonde” on Friday, July 20th at 6:00 PM. The price is $44.50/pp. A sign up sheet is in on the Information Table; deadline for signing up and payment is June 20.
From the OUTREACH COMMISSION: The Route One Day Shelter staff and the friends they help are deeply grateful to the Christ Church congregation for its generosity in providing supplies and medicines for the homeless in our community. The Shelter clinic can use donations of low dose aspirin (81 mg.), naproxen sodium (220 mg.), ibuprofen (200 mg.), muscle rub, loratadine, cetirizine HCL, guaifenesin cough syrup CF, guaifenesin cough syrup DM, sinus rinse kits, saline packets for sinus rinse, famotidine (10 mg.), ranitidine HCL , omeprazole, eye rinse & cup, calamine lotion, 1% hydrocortisone cream, bunion pads, foot powder, tolnafate cream, epsom salts, hemorrhoidal wipes, hemorrhoidal suppositories, pregnancy test kits, micronazole for gyn yeast. (Most of these generics are available at the Dollar Store.) The Shelter is also in need of in need of men’s underpants, peanut butter, canned fruit, jelly, mid-calf white tube socks, AAA and D batteries, canned peas and canned meats. Donations may be

RED CROSS DISASTER TRAINING at Christ Church: Saturday, June 23, 9:00am – 4:30pm Learn how YOU CAN HELP, right here at Christ Church, in the event of a community disaster! Our role is to serve as a Bulk Distribution site, under the direction of the American Red Cross. No special skills are required; training and lunch are FREE! PLEASE REGISTER BY FRIDAY, JUNE 15: sign up in Narthex, or call the . NURSERY COORDINATOR AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are looking for additional Nursery Volunteers (age 18 or older) to assist our paid Nursery Staff in caring for our youngest parishioners on Sunday mornings on a rotating schedule. We also need a new Nursery Coordinator to help oversee the Nursery. Please contact the office if you think you might be interested in either of these ministries or if you would like more information! It’s time to be making plans for “HOLY SMOKE” – the Annual Christ Church Texas Bar-B-Que. This year Holy Smoke will be held Saturday, July 21. Mark your calendar! RECONVENING OF THE FOYER GROUPS Please join us on Sunday, July 22 at the Rectory from 4:00 to 6:00 PM for appetizers and the reconvening of Foyer Groups for Summer 2012. After an Appetizer Social Period, we will draw names to form the groups. These groups of six to eight individuals will meet throughout the Summer in each other’s homes for a meal and conversation. This is a wonderful way to make new friends, enjoy pleasant conversation and fellowship, and share a meal. While it is great fun to attend the reconvening, it is not required in order to participate in the drawing. Please complete the form below and leave it in the basket marked “Foyer Groups” on the Information Table.
