Innovating Innovation Systems– Workshop, Vienna, 14 May 2012
The aim of the Closing Workshop for EECA NCPs on 14 May 2012 is to offer the place for discussion on
innovation and internationalization of Research, Technology and Innovation. Horizon 2020 puts a strong
emphasis on innovation and internationalization, especially in the priority of societal challenges. The
promise of Horizon 2020 is to fund projects until the proof of concept (prototype, demonstrations,
testing) and to grasp the innovation beyond of its pure technological meaning. This is a new approach to
the research design compared with the current one and the Closing Workshop should prepare the EECA-
NCPs to coming changes in future collaboration modalities.
Horizon 2020 is still under preparation, but national policies on Research, Technology and Innovation
offer a lot of fruitful experiences and knowhow on different instruments and funding schemes.
The workshop will bring an overview on European and EECA innovation policies and the evaluation of
their impact, evaluation of national implementation of SBIR - Small Business Innovation Research,
comparison on project design differences between research and innovation projects and some
interesting insights in changes of innovation-processes already lunched on the market, including service
innovation, social innovation, innovation in creative industries and social networks.
