What does the Mississippi Public Service Commission do? • The Public Service Commission regulates telecommunications, electric, gas, water and sewer utilities. The PSC also regulates telemarketers. The agency is charged with assuring that rates and charges for services are just and reasonable, that the service rendered is reasonably adequate, and that any facilities constructed or acquired are required for the convenience and necessity of the public. Additional y, the agency exercises safety jurisdiction over gas pipelines and has area jurisdiction over al public utilities. In carrying out its responsibilities, the commission answers complaints, conducts investigations and holds both formal and informal hearings. The Federal Communications Commission or FCC handles those complaints about cel ular service and tries to help customers resolve bil ing and service disputes but does not regulate contractual arrangements between cel ular providers and their customers. Can I put my cel phone number and or business phone numbers on the No Call Registry? • No, The No Cal Program is only available to residential telephone subscribers in Mississippi. Telephone numbers with regard to cel phone numbers and numbers listed in a business section of the local telephone directory may not be registered in the program.
